FemtoScan Omega
In scanning probe microscope FemtoScan Omega a registering element is highsound quartz tuning fork with the probe fixed on it.
The quartz plug allows to realize a resonant method of scanning which is widely used in SPM, with good quality in hundreds times of greater, than at usual SPM-tips. The resonant method of scanning allows to reduce influence of capillary forces, which increase force influence of a probe to the sample, that causes additional deformations of macromolecules, destruction and instability during scanning.
Modes:
- Resonant atomic-force microscopy
- Scanning tunnel microscopy
- Scanning resistive microscopy
Advantages:
- Absence of a gradient of temperature between a probe and the sample
- The high spatial resolution
- Absence of uncontrollable heating of a needle of the sample
- Measurements on air and in vacuum
- Measurements at the lowered and low temperatures
